Hey i was wondering if there is an inexpensive way to prtect you CV joints, or a tougher joint to make them a little more durable. You see i do a lot of trail running as opposed to mud. I was runnig a spot behind my house(recently logged out) lots of trails, fallen trees etc. Well bout 1/4 mile away from the house i caught a tree limb to the front half axle, busted the joint no more 4x4 so i had to walk to the house and wait for things to dry up, go back and get the stick, and fight my way back out in 2 wheel it was no good. I figure if i have to replace perhaps there is an upgrade or some trail armor of sorts. thanks Bob

When I got tired of swapping CV's, I swapped the whole axle instead for an older model straight axle.
There are some aftermarket porche cv's available for Toyota, but they cost the same if not more the an axle swap once you add in the rest of the susupension upgrades that go with.

There are some tougher CV's on the market and you can go that route. I have a couple worn Downey CV's for sale that use a U-joint on one end with long travel splines. They work well for some folks. I'm personally switching to a solid axle. If your interested in the Downey CV's email me...
