Hey i recently tore up my cv joint, and have considered straight axle conversion, but i'm not sure what all is involved, and how much it will cost. Is there a lot of modding, or is it just swapping a lot of parts??? thanks, Bob

You have to cut off the entire front suspension, which is actually a lot easier then it sounds. As far as welding there is the front spring mount, shackle tubes and shock hoops/mounts to burn on. I don't weld so I had the spring hanger and shackle tubes put in by a shop prior to cutting out the IFS. Actually drove it this way for quite a while. Then after the new suspension went in it went back to the shop to have the shock hoops welded on. After cutting out the IFS it's just a matter of welding on the spring hanger and shackle tubes,if you did'nt do it prior, then the new suspension bolts right in. It took me a total of 12.5 hours, most of which was spent grinding down ifs mounts. As far as cost the complete all pro kit is about 1700USD. Then add in the cost of driveshaft mods, an axle and a rebuild kit for it as well as a front end alignment, matching rear lift and likely some new tires and you can see it can be pretty spendy. If you have good fab skills there are parts you can make yourself to save some coin. You can also buy the parts seperately from different vendors, use different sping packs ect. The thing about the All Pro kit is that it includes everthing you need and goes together easily. The bugs have been worked out. The only problems I ran into were with parts I source locally, the All Pro stuff went together like a dream. Check out All Pro's site for details on the install and kit. Do a search on google.com for "toyota solid axle swap". There are tons of write ups on the net. Check out this page. Awesome info there. toyotalinks.com/
