I have been researching the 7mgte engine swap into the 2nd gen 4runner. The only info I can't find is whether or not I can use my stock auto transmission. The 4runner is a '91 with the 3.0 v6 if it makes any difference. The reason I want to use the automatic is because this is my daily driver and I travel a lot. thanks

The only ones I have seen write ups on have been standards.
Have you considered a 3.4 swap, would be a lot easier because the motor will bolt to your existing motor mounts and tranny. The only head ache is the wiring.

Yeah, I've considered the 3.4 swap, but the 7mgte seems to me to be the better 'bang for the buck' deal. I've found complete motors with low miles on ebay for only little over a thousand dollars. I like the 230 something horsepower compared to the 183 of the 3.4. Another reason I like the 7m engines is becasue they are a whole lot simpler. I am trying to sell my supra right now as a matter of fact to fund this project and buy a lift and some other stuff.
