:)Hello all. I have a '94 4x4 Extended Cab Pickup with a 2.4L and stock tires. If I get an alignment at Toyota now and then in say 4/5 months, get bigger tires (nothing huge, maybey two to three inches bigger), will the bigger tires throw off the allignment that I'm getting now? Any reply would be great, Toyota isn't exactly cheap...wouldn't want to waste money!!! and hey admin- I like all the smiley faces!

Nah you don't need an alignment after putting on bigger treads. If you get a suspension lift then you would need to get an alignment. I would check around for other places on alignment than toyota. toyota is usually the most expensive. Also another help is walmart offers a balancing life-time warranty for cheap. So you can get your tires balanced anytime you need it after you pay the price. For larger tires this is nice cause they always go out of balance when your wheelin a lot. I asked our local walmart if they did the warranty on mud tires and they said yes...so there ya go. Later man

;D I can't possibly begin to get into the technical aspects of this ? in a post. Here's the general breakdown: the factory spec'd the alignment w/28" tall tires(approx. 14" center to edge of tread). When you change tire size, you move the measure point out 1/2 the difference of the diameter increase. It changes the geometry of the front end & the specs. You're best bet is a shop that deals w/4wd's. If there's none around, tell the tech. to put the toe as far "in" as it will go & stay "green". This also helps "wobble" probs. Later...

Good information Fred. So you would recommend getting an alignment after putting on bigger tires? I just don't wanna be throwing around bad info. Never aligned mine after putting on bigger tires...of course my tie rods aren't exactly straight anymore. Thanks

;D My suggestion is to wait until you get your truck to a point where you think it will stay for a while, then have it aligned. My shop(private) offers a 100% guarantee on our work, reagardless of on or off road. Until you change something. Then, we start over. It really comes down to what you want & how/where you drive. Since your tie rods aren't staight, I'm sure your steering wheel isn't either ;D Some people can't deal w/that. It's really all personal pref. Later...

Yeah, I like the steering wheel turned to the side. I can keep my arm on the arm rest and one figure on the wheel. Its the lazy mans steering wheel. LOL
