it always starts out as a simple motor R&R, and then the bug bites. ive got a 90 4run with no motor for free from a friend, and access to a rolled sequoia(sp) for parts. my thinking is that with fabed motor and trans mounts, glass hood and fenders and it may just fit. does anyone have an idea as to frame width diff or other problems. i am not dead set on this but it does sound pretty cool. all ideas/coments welcome. thanks, benito

When I was last at the local toyota wrecker inquiring about 3.4l's he tried to sell me a 4.7 out of a Lexus. Claimed he sold one to a guy already who fit it in early model pickup, so apparently it can be done. He said it fit between the frame rail and that's all the guy needed to make it work. The number one problem I see is the 4.7 transfer is going to be left hand output, where your free four runner is right hand. On a soild axle truck the fix is simple enough, find an axle with a left hand drop like a 44 or 60 and get it shortened or shortened it yourself. On an IFS rig I'm not really sure what you would do.
