I have talked my very cool wife to be that we should honeymoon in the smokies in Oct. (translation: I get to wheel Tellico!) My 92 Ext. cab is pretty much stock other than some small but decent tires. I figure I can probably handle the easy to mild/ moderate trails there. My woman told me to go ahead and order a winch/bumper combo for the trip. My problem is I am already experiencing tire rub with 31 inch MTR's on alloy 15x8's. I have cranked the T-bars some and it only rubs under hard compression with a large person (not my woman...hehe...) in the passenger seat. I am afraid that when I put the winch & bumper on that it will get worse. I also have trimmed the inner wheel well liner and it helped some. Maybe I can crank the T-bars some more. I was thinking about going with some cut-out flares and I was wondering how much fender would be removed around where the factory mud flaps used to be attached as this is where I think my problem is. I don't like body lifts, and I am trying to wait to do a solid axle swap, so I don't want to put any money in the stock suspension. I have been off roading for over 20 years so I think I can handle a good part of the trails at Tellico, but I won't feel safe without a winch, especially with open diffs. If anybody has any advice for this problem, or info about the Bushwacker cut-outs for this truck, please post it here.

Yeah, I've checked out roger's page and it looks like he offers quality products. I was considering ordering one of his 1 inch kits but I just ordered an arb bumper and I dont think you can lift these bumpers very easily to match. Thanks for the advice all the same and happy wheeling!

Here is the deal with the body lift and an ARB bumper. I have an ARB on the front of my 94. I just happen to manage a machine shop where we use a lot of different plastics so I made my own 3/4 body lift. The reason people say you can't use the two together is because the hoops on top of the bumper will be right in the middle of your headlights IF you use a 2" or 3" B/L. If you stay at 1" or less your good to go. By the way I live here in N.C. and if you don't have plenty of clearence for your tires, go ahead and take a sledge hammer to the fenders cause that what it is going to look like when you get back from tellico. (just some words from experience)

yeah, since I posted, I have attacked sheetmetal with snips and my small mallet. Thanks for the info on the bumper and bodylift combo. I might go ahead with a 1 inch kit. I got depressed when I started thinking about my bumper selection when I found out that I would need a bodylift to make the 4.3 conversion work.
