will my stock gears on my 93 v6 turn 35's??? if so what are the ups and downs? Yeah it'll turn 35's- but you'll have a major loss of power. No ups-just downs.Check out the gearing article in the articles section.Maybe for a mall cruiser thats OK.You probably had stock 4.10 with a 28" tire at 65mph your rpm's are about 3206.Go to 35" and your rpm's drop to 2565 at 65mph.The GEARS article starts out : So you think you need new gears to power those new 35's well lets find out...(very easy to use & understand)Go with 35s just wait till you can regear to do it.It'll be a few bucks no doubt. The price of doing it right will be forgotten, you'll have live to with no power otherwise.

Well the one small upside is the stock 4.10 ratio is the strongest available gearset. Some people choose to leave it in for the extra strength and gear down in the transfer instead. I've even heard of guys with dual cases running the front case in low, effectively 2wdlow, for around town driving. When comparing the cost of regearing two diffs, one might decide that the money is better spent on a mod that offers better off road abilty. Instead of regearing my old diffs, I got a e-locker from a wrecker with 4.56 gears for about 600w/tax CDN. Then I bought a used front diff to match from the same wrecker, a v6 rear diff out of a 4wd pickup for 200 CDN(solid axle swap rig). I sold my old rear diff to a diff shop with the ring gear toasted for 200 so I was only out the price of the e-locker and I had slightly better gears and a locker. All for a whole lot cheaper then regearing to diffs. You could also find stock 4.88 diffs at the wrecker, but they are'nt all that common. I choose to spend the money else where runnign 37's and I can't say I regret it. I'll get dual cases, an engine swap, afront locker and a winch before I even consider regearing the diffs.
