I've got an 87 pickup with stock 22RTE engine. The turbo on this engine does me absolutely no good. Everyone I've talked to says it's better to get rid of the turbo and just use a 22RE. I wanted to know if I can just pull off the turbocharger and run a normal header without changing the computer or anything else? Or would there be too much backpressure? I've looked at putting a new engine in out of a 93 but I've been told that I'd have to get a new computer, intake manifold, exaust manifold, pipes, the list goes on, is there a simpler way?
thanks

Out of curiousity what kind of turbo is it? Could you upgrade turbo's? I would think you could pull the turbo off and use a regular header and be ok..but that is my guess..and I have never done it on a 22re
