This may have been answered already, but is there a way to put one of the new e-lockers out of a tacoma in my truck. I got a 87 4runner. I tried searching and i did turn up anything.

You could probably swap in the whole axle assembly. I haven't ever heard anyone doing this but it could be done. I don't think the carrier and electric locker assembly will fit your axle on your runner. Not real sure about it but thats my first guess.

Yes you can add the e-locker from newer taco's to your older 8" rear. You will have to grind a small notch, (like 1/4x3") in the side of the houseing so that the sift fork can fit into it but thats it.
The bigest problem is comming up with one, Toyota wants an arm and a leg for one and so does the aftermarket people.

Yeah, Snap On is on the money. Not that hard to do at all and well worth it. Also don't be afraid to call around to local wreckers. I did just for a joke because I had read they were impossible to find and sure enough the first place I called had one for about 35% the cost of one from the dealer. Here's a good write up on the swap. www.4x4wire.com/toyota/tech/electric_locker/
