;D I just searched & didn't find anything except in truck descriptions. So, I'll ask here. Who's using them(I saw a few guys had them), which type & what's your opinion of them? My battery took a dump this a.m. w/the 2 degree temp. I knew I needed a battery & procrastinated. I paid for it. Let me know your experience w/the Optimas. Later...

My battery and alternator took a crap at the same time so I replaced the battery with a yellow top optima and a high output alternator. I probably could have been fine with the red top but I somehow end up jump starting a lot of cars during the year so I wanted a battery with a little more cranking amps. Mine has worked great. I'm only running some larger spot lights and no winch yet. So i don't have a lot of drain on it so far.

I currently have a yellow top. Actually Snorkle, the red top has more cranking amps then the yellow, but the yellow has a longer reserve capicity. I had a red top before and loved it. In the winter here it often gets down to -30 to -40, and with the red top I never I had to plug it in. It was a great battery, and only died due to my own stupidity. I did'nt have it secured well, the optima is smaller then a regular battery so the stock hold down in my case was'nt good enough. It came lose and went into the power steering pump pulley, and slowly the pulley rubbed a hole in it. It actually still worked well for a month after I found the hole, and who knows how long before. The yellow top I am less happy with. I got it as a replacement because I figured I would be getting a winch soon and wanted the reserve capicty. But the reduced cranking amps is bum in extremetly cold weather. It just does'nt turn the motor over as fast, though it will turn it over for a longer time then a regular battery. For people living a warmer climate I doubt it would make any difference. Over all I would definately say they are worth the money.

;D A shameless plug: the Snap-on/MechanixWear gloves actually do a good job of keeping your fingers warm & allowing you to work. I'm not saying that you can go skiing in them. But for a short job, they work real well. Later...
