I live in Sacramento, CA and for the last few months i have been looking for a truck. I currently drive an 88 acura legend, and i want to get a more adventure type of vehicle. I have really been looking at tacomas and i have decided that it is what I would like. But i havent found one that i like for the right price. For me the musts are 4x4 and a crewcab/extended cab. I want one within the last 5 years and the price to be no higher than 10,000 dollars. Im just wondering if i am being too unreasonable in my hunt and if i am then what should i change about it. Thanks, ive seen some awesome stuff on this site.

Used vehicle prices vary from area to area, use your local newspaper as a guide. The price from a dealer will be higher than a private party.

Unless you are planning to get the 3.4L, scrap the '95 and up idea and go early '90s. But if you plan to get the 3.4L, then Sac Town is the right place to be (biggest auto mall in CA.) I live in Marin County, CA (I'm in college at the moment in WA) and it's harder to find trucks down here. You might want to use the $10,000 as a down payment and get something from dealer, otherwise you will have to go private.
