I'm going to New Zealand on Sunday for 3 months and was wondering if there was anything I should do with my truck while I'm gone. Thanks, Will Lyons

I would put a can of stabil in the fuel tank and disconnect the battery.

if you have any close friends have them start up your truck every 3 weeks and also do what 86taco said

I was wondering the same thing myself, I am going to Spain to study abroad in January for 4.5 months and I am trying to con my parents into taking the truck around the block and back every week or so.

If it hasn't been done recently, I'd change the engine oil before the truck sits. It's always good to have fresh oil.

Also if it going to sit for a while the tires can develop flat spots. You might consider doing the following...
- disconnect battery - add stabilizer to gas - put up on jack stands - if it isn't going to be driven, they can still start up the engine and let it idle - change oil - just so the dirt don't sit too long and form deposits anywhere.
That should keep it nice and ready. Of course you can bring it to TN and i would definately drive it around for ya! ;D

I've heard of some people putting WD-40 in the carb to put a seal like coating on it. This of course if it's not going to be driven or turned over to idle.
I wouldn't bet my life on it. Like I said, I've only heard of it.
Anybody else know about this strange Phenomenon?

Iv'e heard of something similar, but it wasn't WD40. For only 3 mos I don't think it 's necessary, a year, yes.
If it's not going to be turned over periodically you can pull the plugs and spray a light oil into the cylinders.
The Stabil in the tank nand disco the batt cable are also good.
Readying an engine for storage is refered to as "pickle-ing" it (not sure of exact spelling). Try a WWW and/or automotive websites search.

Like I said fourwd, I wouldn't bet my life on it. Something about WD-40 and a carb doesn't sound right to me. Carb cleaner I think would be good, but it would evaporate faster then you could put the air cleaner back on. ;D
And now that you mention it, it was for basically hibernating a vehicle away for a while.

;D Deadly, what I think you're talking about is known as "fogging oil". Used in marine engines to winterize them. Just did mine last weekend. It's a VERY heavy oil that sticks to anything it touches & thus prevents corrosion. If it were me, I'd add a bottle or 2 of a gas stabilizer(Heet or similar), fill the truck w/fuel, get the truck hot by driving around for a few (to mix the stabilizer), change oil & filter, spray fogging oil in the air intake(as close to the engine as you can get!!!) until engine dies . Spray cables,linkage... w/same, make sure coolant is good ( temp. wise), disconnect battery & go enjoy New Zealand!! A place I'd like to visit!!! Later...
