TEXT I installed my aussie lacker today and I am very pleased with its performance. It went in pretty east. The hardest thing was getting the third member broke loose from the rearend housing. My truck has been virgin since 86' not anymore. I did have to do a little bit of trimming off the carrier to get the locker parts in. I used a grinding stone on the end of a drill. I die grinder with a rasp is another good tool that would work well. It took me a little while to figre out how to get the cross shaft out. My chilton does not cover any of this so I got on 4x4wire.com and looked at the lok rite section and it was on there. There is a little hole in the side of the carrier inside the hole is a pin. I pounded it out with a skinny punch. besides that it went really well. my truck has 167,000 miles on it and the gears wooked great. Everythink was with in the specs for the locker. When I am turning really hard it does buck a little if I am on the gas . I think this is normal. It isnt really all that loud when turning just a faint click click click. the guys at the parts store gave me the wrong diff gasket so I made one out of a manila folder this works well for thermostat gaskets and such. I cleaned all the parts with starting fluid it is very cheap and cuts through any grease and dries quick. I am amazed at the traction!!! It is awesome.

Where is the best place to find a good deal on Aussie lockers? I'm really looking forward to putting one on my 4runner.
Thanks a lot.

man i had to shave off a lot more. i used a dremel tool with a grinding stone and it was taking too long. so went down and bought a little cutting bit that was for harden steel for my dremel tool. what did you set the backlash to when you got it back together. but i am glad i got it. it is badass www.offroadlockers.com/

Have you guys tried putting the locker in the oven to get it to fit other than trimming. I've never put in this locker so it might be more trimming than I've heard of, but I know guys heating stuff up to get it to fit. Just a thought.

Go to offroadlockers.com I think they are the only dealer in the u.s. for the aussie. The price is still 200$ it was 220$ with shipping for mine. YOu cant beat that price. I set the backlash to eight thousandths it was ten when I took it apart that seems a bit much it should be between 5 to 8 thousandths. Yea its kick ass. Heating it up would not expand it enough. I had to shave off like maybe a 1/16 or so off the one side. In the installation manual it did not cover any thing like this. ? I dont now why. any other questions just ask later
