I know this question was posted in another section, but I wanted to ask this question in here due to the fact that I want feedback for my generation of Pickup. I just got a free CB and I am having a hard time deciding on a place to mount it. I have considered putting it in the spot where the ashtray is, but it would require a little trimming of that area. Has anyone else actually put a CB in that slot? My CB is pretty small compared to most, it would definitely fit in the ashtray slot with just minor trimming. Anyone else have any other ideas of places for a CB? Any pictures? Links? I'm a neat freak and I like things to look nice, thats why I am actually spending time thinking about it and not just mounting it in any ol' spot.

mount a custom box to your roll cage, put the radio up their and run the wires down your down tubes...

I've seen people put them on the driver's side on the side of the transmission tunnel, but i don't know how that will affect leg room or seat adjustment.

;D If you don't "smoke" and don't let others "smoke" in your truck, then the ashtray spot would be perfect. Do it right & it'll be better than factory. Later...

I haven't actually done this on a TOY, but I did do it on a Slam-N-Ride (Samurai). It fit in nicely and looked good. Plus the ashtray is located in a great place for a CB.

I would do the rollcage thing, but I don't have one. I thought about putting it in the cubby beneath the radio, but I bought one of those little pockets when I put my CD player in and would hate to waste it. I don't smoke and I like the idea of the ashtray and its location, so I am thinking that I am going to go with that route. Here is a website that shows this done on a Tacoma, but same general ashtray location: www.keystonekrawlers.com/Mods/Toyota/CBinstall/cbinstall.htm

This is my setup. I had a small Radio shack CB that I mounted under the ash tray. I just took out the coin tray and made a cut in the plastic. I did it in a rush so there are some gaps. I also mounted a external speaker which I highly recommend you get. The volume on the CB is too low and the speaker makes everything loud and clear. Don't know how long I can keep this pic up due to low space on my site. Need room for more SAS pics

I did this in my 85 except I put the CB on the passenger side and the mic on the drivers side. It was a quick set up that didn't need any mods cuz I plan to move it some where else when I decide on where that's going to be.
