Does anyone know what the tonnage is on the toy 8" rear end. Like 1/2 or 1 ton. I had a ton of dirt in the back of my toy a few weeks ago. No problems I just took off really slow from stops and kept it at 55 down the highway. It squated it 3'' not to bad. I think its the same as the rears they put in the 1 ton campers and box trucks.

;D My Runner is rated for #250 tongue & #3500 trailer. I'm sure yours is similar. I've seen an S-10 P/U take a full box load of sand, almost drag the bumper & have no problems. Don't want to do this often or in front of the cops. I've driven a Toy dually w/a LOAD on it. It's NO FUN. My advice is to do what YOU feel safe with. If it takes 2 loads, OH WELL!! Later...

This summer I was hauling large amounts of stone dust in my 97 V6. Now I read the manual, and it basically stated (but seemed to be open to interpretation) that the rear was rated for 1100lbs.
When I weighed out on the scales, I had 2005lbs in the bed. The bump stops were on the frame, and my tires were beginning to compress a little. Stopping was a little more difficult, and when I went over large bumps, there was a LOT of bounce.
I was a little uncomfortable with that load. But, my buddy has an 89 and had about 1750lbs and his ride was stiff and not near as compressed as mine. I can't imaging that 250lbs makes that much of a difference.
Like 4xFred said, whatever you are comfortable with. Just don't make a habbit of hauling a full ton around everywhere.
