ok since i just found out my v6 truck has the axle g292, which the 8 inch, 4.10 gears, and 2 pinion. is there any internal difference from the axle found on the 4cyl. i looked and counted the extra fins on my third member and i know its the v6 rear end. aussie locker lists the 4cyl as having 2 pinion, and the 4 pinion is not out yet. i a called them earlier and and i am waiting for the owner to call back(wife said he was traveling)
so does the v6 rear have any other internal mods if it is an 8 inch and has 2 pinions?
86 taco any idea?

Sorry I can't help you there. I have no idea. When i went into the parts store to get my diff gasket I told them I had a 8" rear end. So they ordered the gasket. When I started installing the third member the gasket didnt fit. So I called them and they asked me if I had a 7 3/4" or a 8.2" ring gear it turns out that mine is the 7 3/4" ring gear. this might be the difference between the 4cyl and the v6. But I'm not sure.

No the ring gears are the same diameter, just different pinion thickness. The V6 has a thicker pinion gear so when using 4 clyinder gears in a V6 diff they use a shim behind the ring gear to bring it out for proper contact. The popular toyota axle used from 79-95 known as the 8 inch is actually 7.8 inches as it is actually metric not standard. In 96 they changed to a slightly larger ring gear as seen in Tacoma's and Tundra's which carry the different bolt pattern. Don't know about about your diff Banshee45, sounds like it should be a regular V6 diff, which the aussie won't work in.
