over the summer, i got free parts off of and early solid axle axle toyota, i am not sure what year, i want to say 79, i took a pic of a toyota i saw the same body style in hawaii(the land of toyota trucks, every other vehicle is toyota truck), but it not the same one. my question is how much work is needed, and how strong and these axles on this truck. i got them now to save until after college to do the sas swap

Mine took about 12 hours not including the welding. Check out my write up in the lifts section for more info.
The front axle used for 79-85 is essentially the same, the only real difference being brakes on a couple years and the factory truss. At first in axle came with no truss and housing warpage was a problem so in 81(i beleive) they added a truss on the underside of the driver side of the axle which ends at the spring perch. In 84 the truss was extended to reach all the way to the ball.
