I have been trying to figure out the best way to raise my bumper up to the normal height after my 2" body lift. Unfortunately, my PA body lift didn't come with any rear bumper brackets to raise it up, on came with front ones. I have some ideas of ways or fabbed brackets that would work, but I wanted to know if anyone had already fabbed some or if anyone knew of where I could get some good brackets?

Take a piece of flat stock, i'm not sure exactly how wide you need, but you can find out. Get at least 1/4" thick steel. Drill 2 holes in the orientation that the bumper would normally mount, and then drill 2 holes exactly 2" above each of those. Mount the bumper brackets to the top holes and use the bottom holes to mount to the frame. Cheap and easy.

Yep, that sounds exactly like what I was thinking. You think that would be strong enough to tow anything without bending? That was my main concern

That i don't know. I haven't body lifted mine and done this so i couldn't say for sure. I think as long as the steel you use is as thick and strong as the bumper brackets you should be fine. Remember the stock bumper brackets are already the weak link here. If you get rear ended they are designed to give out so they don't bend the frame. So they are not supposed to be as strong as the frame in the first place. So if you fab some brackets out of similar steel it should be just fine.

That was all I had worried about, since the new brackets would have nothing to back them where the bumper connects, like the stock ones, where the frame backs the bracket. I guess the only way to find out is to try some.

Yeah I see what you mean. I can see how it would be weaker up there, but you could go thicker than 1/4" as well, or weld in something else to make it stronger. What are you planning on towing anyway?

I don't really tow much very often, but I have towed a few Uhaul trailers and things like that. I wouldn't run into a problem but once in a blue moon, cause thats about all the towing I do... one or two times a year
