When I bought my truck, it already had both a body and a suspensions lift on it. So I can't give a good before and after comparison, but I love it now. After the new 6 1/2" speakers in the door, 12'' in the rear, and 1000w amp, the alternator had trouble (actually went out on me while I was in the mountains at night, funny story ) so I got a 100 amp alternator. I can run my system, aftermarket lights, fan, whatever, and it's ok. I'm going to be getting some gears and lockers, so I'll let you know.

My first mod was the drop in K&N filter ($30 filter) which was an alright addition, like you've probably read, its nice to have the ability to reclean it.
I then upgraded my stock shocks to Rancho RS5000's. I am satisfied with those.
I upgraded from stock wheels to Eagle 589 15x8's. I like the way these look
I added a Rancho Steering Stabilizer because my stock one was leaking. This wasn't anything special in my opinion, I'd save the money.
I recently did the airbox mod to my engine and was pretty happy overall with how it turned out. It is louder and has a little more pickup than before. Only downside to this is that you run the risk of getting water or mud into your intake if you aren't careful.
Next, I put my 2"body lift on and 33's. This by far is my favorite mod, it was my first lift for anything I've owned.
Most recent, I added my exhaust system. Flowmaster single outlet with 2.5" catback exhaust. I like the sound of the truck, but didn't add a whole lot of power/acceleration, just slightly more noticeable.
ASAP, I am going to put some 6.5" speakers into the doors... whenever I get times between now, exam week and graduation (finally).
thats all I can think of really... let me know if you have anymore questions

It all depends on what you're going for. If you want your rig to look good the first step is a nice set of wheels. That, by itself, makes a Toy look pretty good. Then some decent tires to go with your lift should look badass. Also, like the other guys said, get some decent speakers. Toyota's stock ones suck, and you'd be getting better use of your CD player with good speakers.
