In the almost 3 years I've owned my truck, I have never been able to eliminate the shaking I have on the highway. I have gotten new wheels, new tires, new shocks, alignments, balances, etc... but the shake never goes away. I have shook the driveshaft but don't see any play in the U-joints. I recently had the tires balanced, but it still shakes. I get alot of shaking between 60-70mph and also another, different shake at around 35-40mph which feels almost like I'm bouncing. Any ideas on troubleshooting the annoyance?

Depending on how much lift you have it could be the angle of the drive line. I put a CV joint from the front drive line of a 84 onto the front end my rear one. Plus I rotated the axle so that the diff and the axle were at about 2 degrees. I still get a little vibration at the higher speeds with a 7" lift. Plan to change both diff's to Hi-pinion.

I have a 2" body lift, so my driveline shouldn't be different. I had the shaking before and after the lift also.

yeah, I got one of those too in an effort to eliminate the shaking but had no luck. I didn't even actually notice much of a difference at all, b/c I really thought I would. I have one of the Rancho stabilizers

;D This may sound stupid, but... First off, is the front end SOLID? Ball joints, Idler arm, Pitman arm, end links(tie rod ends) , center link. Anyone of these can cause your prob. 6 months ago, I finally found a bad idler arm on a Chevy van. It had a shake that about kicked my a**. Check EVERYTHING before we go any further. Later...

I was questioning the Idler Arm on mine. I've always heard that you check it by having someone turn the steering wheel from side to side and while their doing that, watch the idler arm to see if there is any verticle play in it. Is this how you check? How else can you check it?

Silly question, but could the driveshaft be out of balance?

;D Yeah Mike, it could be the rear d-shaft for sure. I'm just trying to eliminate common probs. first. NCSU, jack up the front end, put jackstands under the arms & set it down. Have a bud shake the wheel side to side & up & down. Gently @ first. Any play could be a cause for concern. Later...

I just had the lock nut on the wheels bearings tightened when I got my new tires put on, so I am pretty sure its not that. I want to say it may be something driveshaft related because it feels like it is shaking below the seats. If nobody is in the passenger seat when I am on the highway, it shakes like hell from side to side
