 okay guys i need help tell me how to set the timing on my 3.0 runner it's a 89 with auto thanks for help  duane p.s. any other sites on the runner would be great ;D

;D Here we go...first off, find the decal under the hood that tells the timing. My '88 is 10btdc. Next, near the battery, should be a small plastic box w/a multi-pin DLC in it. There should be a diagram for the pins on the inside of the cover. Get a jumper(I use a paper clip, the hi-tech tool of the future!) & jump out termiinals T & E1. This will put the ECU in base timing mode. Now you can set the timing. As a side note, the same jumper, key on engine off, will also flash codes thru the CEL. Later...

Just in case. CEL=Check-Engine-Light ;D The key must be in the on position, where the dash lights up, but dont start it.
