New to the Board

Howdy,

I just bought myself an 88 4Runner with the 22re. I have had several toy trucks the past and currently own an 88 all-trac celica and 91 MR2 Turbo.

Plans for the truck include a 7mge with an Autronic EMS and eventually turbo the 7m if I feel the need. Also I have read that the rear end will need to be beefed up to handle the additional power so that may preclude a turbo for the time being.

I have spent the last 7 years wrenching on MR2's and my All-trac, and currently co-own ATS Racing in Lewisville, TX. We specialize in Turbo MR2's. We have several shop cars making over 430HP to the wheels on stroked 2.2L engines. So I'm excited about turboing a 7M in a 4runner.

Cool. When I'm ready to rebuild the 22RTE I have to replace the 22R in my 4Runner, I'll probably have questions for you.

Guys, Thanks for the warm welcome! I'll definately keep you updated on swap progress. It may happen sooner than I planned. I had forgotten how weak the 22re is when towing motorcycles :-)

Where are ya'll located anyway? Is this board international or just US based?

My brother is in the middle of a 7mgte build-up to install in his 85 truck so we'll learn from his, then do my swap.

Ohh, BTW we had a dyno day @ the shop last weekend and one of our shop cars beat out an 03 cobra with "everything" (according to the owner) @ 461 Rear wheel HP. The cobra put out 459 :-) it was close, and the MR2 could never put out the kind of torque that cobra makes.
