last night I got my 94 4x4 22re stuck in some pretty serious slop. After about an hour long battle I called a friend to pull me out with his tractor. I turned my truck off and waited for him to arrive when he got there the truck wouldnt start. Finally when it did start it kept dying out, I got it going after about 20 minutes. But on the way home I could feel the truck sputtering on and off. Took it to the car wash and the sputtering was still there. There was alot of water flying around last night is it possible my plugs or wires or something like that might be wet?

Sounds like there is H2O in the dist. cap. Take it off and spray it with some WD40. That should fix ur problem.

Yeah also go through the intake and make sure there isn't mud and water in their as well. Sputtering after getting in water is very normal and is just the engines way of telling you there is water where it shouldnt be. Its just a good thing your engine didn't hydrolock. This is where water gets into the cylinder. Water doesn't compress like gas and will cause the engine to lockup or even worse break a rod. That is no fun... Just dry out everything that is wet and you will be good to go.

hate that had to happen to you, but i am glad to hear i am not the only one. that happened to my 93 pickup a week and a half ago and then went away after a couple of hours. however, it came back to haunt me and i still haven't figured it out yet. if i am even on the slightest uphill slope, it just wants to bog down and die on me. post something on here if you figure out what it was, and what you did to fix it. i have no water at all in my intake, tried the wd40 in the distributor, neither worked. i heard it could be slop sucked up into the muffler or catalytic converter causing congestion. anyway, let us know what it was. good luck

I don't know what your set ups are but if you have cats chances are its packed with mud I did this myself I had 4+ inches of slop in the cab of my 99 Our top tech told me I should have left the engine running . when we took off the cat it was packed with mud. I replaced it with the LC Engineering bolt on . Just a thought
