There is a club ride coming up. They are going to Paragon. I wanted to get an idea of what it's like before I take the two hour drive south. All opinions appreciated!! ;D

It's a great place, all levels of trails mild to wild (as they say). Can be kinda expensive, but you gotta pay to play ;D Worth it for only a 2 hr drive, that's about how far it is from me too.

;D Not to start s**t, but I'm highly opposed to the "pay to play" train of thought. There are more than enough trails to keep one busy around here. Plus, check Paragon's new rules. You now have to pay for a guide. I'm NOT saying Paragon's a bad place to go. MHO, as long as there are trails open, I'll find 'em, use 'em & make 'em better. Later...

Unfortunately, the available free, legal areas are shrinking rapidly, especially challanging areas.
PTP areas such as PAP, RC, and BDs offer legal, somewhat supervised (for the noobs) areas with various levels of difficulty.
It is a bitch that they are a little spendy, but it seems the only alternative for challanging rockcrawling, etc. on the east coast.
If you want to travel some there are areas such as Tellico and Uwharrie. I just prefer not to drive 6-8 hrs all the time just to play for free.

Tellico ain't free but it is cheap. I paid $5 for trails but i heard they just doubled that. Since I don't live there and don't have a chance to help maintain the trails, I dont mind paying for someone else to do it. ;D

I'm with 4xfred I can't bring myself to pay and play and besides paragon just keeps adding more and more regulations that is part of why I started wheeling to get away from so called reg. people and their f#*@ing rules, laws, and regulations . guides we don't need no stinking guide.

I'll second that, or third it actually. The Rubicon, where I do most of my wheeling, has no fee but does have rules, but that's cuz it goes through forest land. They're mainly all good rules that any decent wheeler would follow anyways. So in a way there really aren't rules as long as you're a decent human being. ;D

Good Points All!!! I would like to go just to say I have been there. I just can't see paying to do something that I can do right here at home. I doubt I will go, but if I do I'll bring home some pics to share!

That's the truth, but I think it applies everywhere in life, not just the trails.
