I've heard people say that shock boots are bad and that they just trap mud in there. But what do you think? I think that there is really no way to completely seal it, so I just took off my shock boots and guess what, there was a lot of dirt and sand just sitting there, trapped.

As you see they're good and bad. Keep stuff out, but not all of it. I slide mine up every once in a while to hose underneath them down.

you might be able to silicone them to the shock... this would keep all the crap out but you wouldnt beable to get the shock boot off

The problem with siliconing the boot to the shock is that most shock boots have a breather hole or two in them for the air to escape when they're compressed. These holes a lot of times is were you're dirt gets in from. If you do have these holes in your boots then you could silicone some kind of fine screen or cloth over them.

Mine filled up with dirt after my first run, so I just cut them off.
