ok, this summer my dad wants me to try selling our old work truck. it is an 1978 dodge adventure, which is a extended cab dodge that came with a 5wheel trailer bed. but when when bought that was changed off as he used it for landscaping work. he is what is has -360 v8 with 95,000 -rebuilt 3spd auto towing gears w/ 500 miles on rb -rear dana 80 full floater 8lug w/ 24leaf pack each side including helper springs -all new brakes as old ones went out on me coming home from highschool. i would like to keep it for the drivetrain, til after college. but if we do sell it how should i go about it advertising it? i know the dana 80 is worth quite a bit but i don't know how much $$? we spent $700 on rebuilt tranny he wants me to put like $500 obo and i say $1000 obo should i make it known what components it has or pretend i know nothing and let someone think they found a jewel? any input on this would be great

Are you sure it is a dana 80. My dad had the same truck(brother still has it) only with the 440 and 4wd and it came with 60's.

yeah i crawled under it with the chilton manual before and used the comparison picstures. i would get under it right now to take a pic but its 2 1/2 hrs away. there was also an article in a rencent 4wheeler mag comparing an 80 to an new aam axle. the 80 looked like mine so i am almost positive it is a 80

A wise man once told me that any p/u that ran and passed inspection was worth at least $1000, because p/u's are so useful.

also about the dana 60 question, i'm not sure what the 60 is rated for but i know at least twice when my dad was doing landscaping he put more then 2 tons of shale in the back. had the ass draggin way down. but it finally rode like silk.
