i gotta 85 yota reg. cab with the stock bench seat.. im tryin to buy a 10" and throw it in my truck.. but would a 10" in a truck box fit? or would it be a better idea to replace my bench seats with bucket seats and put a sub in that way?

This post would of been better in the Non 4x4 chat, but oh well.....if you're willing to invest into putting bucket seats to replace the bench you'd be willing to invest in a custom box. They sell custom boxes all over the place on e-bay (i got my custom box for 2 12's for about 165), i'm sure you can find something there for cheap, from 1 sub to 2 sub set ups. Just remember that the cubic ft space of the box matches the subs specs....it shouldn't be to hard for a 10"

i had 1 10" sub in a truck box. it was a punch xlc. it blasted. i really enjoyed the way it sounded. i was running it off a 350w mtx amp with a built in x-over.

i wouldnt buy a custom box that gets expensive. You can make your own pretty easily, just get plans off the web. Use HDL from your local lumber store.

I'm a firm believer in buying boxes, not because i'm lazy, but because it takes more then just throwing wood together and cutting out a hole. There is a reason why they call them sealed boxes, and no caulking isn't a proper seal....not to mention the carpeting techniques, the type of wood used, and the tools used. After all is said and done....to me it's about quality....why buy husky if you can have craftsman??

it's all about the custom enclosures. you can design the perfect box to fit wherever you want to. all you have to do is use 3/4" MDF (pick it up at any hardware store, it's pressed paper, very dense stuff), screws, liquid nails caulk, pen and paper, and you brain...simple shit, and its way better then sticking a bulky rectangle/square box in your truck...

maybe you could somehow build it into the back of the seat? Just an idea.

maybe you could somehow build it into the back of the seat? Just an idea. As with anything in life it is possible for the right price, that being a HIGH price lol. And it woould be anoying as hell to have right against you. Todays market is full oif good low air subs and newwer and thinner models are getting more and more readily available. The one thing to remeber when installing a sub is to make sure you give it lots of power. Great subs can sound like shit with no power to em. This means a good sized brand name amp prefered. A good solid power source I recomend going no less the 4gauge power and grounds wires. That way you;ll never have to upgrade it unless you go HUGE. And word of warning if you listen to rap/hip-hop, dance anything with window shakin bass, your gonna wanna go bigger soon LOL it's very addictive.
