since there is zero action in the 95 and up runner category, i thought id move this, since it seems toys have pretty similar interior layouts...

I'm debating the same thing. My 92 toy has the 60/40 bench, and I haven't thought of a good place. I could mount it between the shifter and the seat, but it would limit seat travel. The antenna wire is already there, and I see where he hung the mic on the dash, but I can find no holes or other evidence of where the actual radio was mounted. I realize in your 4-runner you probably have a console covering the whole tranny hump so you are even more limited than me. I can say though, as a former audio installer, that if you have switched from the stock radio (double din) to an aftermarket stereo (probably single din) you could mount it in the dash below the stereo depending on the size of the C.B. If you have a single din stereo, you probably have either a black plastic panel or a pocket under the stereo. Both of these can be removed. Any half decent installer can help you with this. I'm not for it in my truck because I am planning to use the extra space to put a slide out S.V.G.A. display for my g.p.s. Also, if you haven't bought a C.B. yet, Cobra among others makes a remote mount radio where all the controls are on the mic and you mount the rest under the seat or dash.

I am puting in a full interior roll cage in mine from all pro www.allprooffroad.com/cage.html and am going to mount my speakers and radio, XM, CB, on a home made platform up top. I will have all my electrical, except my ECU and stuff. I am also going to have an in dash camera set upfor the dunes. I just buy a spy camera ($15) and plug it into my freinds cam corder. hope this helps.

I put mine in-dash. Depth might be an issue depending on the size of your radio, but it can work. Click for bigger pic...

On the non tacos (ie 90-95 ish) there is a little pastic pannel on the bottom of the center dash that has a little shelfie thing in it. If you take that off it exposes all the area under the center dash area above the trans tunnel. There is some metal frame for the dash that comes down in there and attaches to the trans tunnel, it has a few round ears on it. If you "modify" one of those ears then a standard cb will slide in right under the ash tray. This also leaves the speaker open so you can still hear it .
Ill pull out the digital and snap a pic of mine if i can think aobut it.

I finally threw a cb in my truck for a recent trip to Tellico. I did it literally 15 minutes before I left for the trip and it worked out kinda cool. As I mentioned earlier in this thread, I didnt want to go under my stereo because I intend on putting a gps display there. I ended up jamming the cb down between the 60 and 40 sides of my bench seat. It ended up being very functional. It sits flush with my armrest and looks like it actually took some thought. The only downside is that if someone wants to steal it , all they have to do is yank it out. After I left on the trip, I found that the speaker on the cb was muffled because it was firing into the seat cushion. I stopped at a truck stop and bought an add on speaker and it fits perfectly in the little hole above the armrest. just a little redneck engineering I though I would share with you guys with split benches. By the way. the uniden pc76xlw is a sweet radio. I got compliments from truckers about my signal during the whole trip. I added the uniden 20 watt bearcat speaker and I am pleased with it too.

Yeah, the ash tray is where I wanted to mount mine. Only problem I found with mine is that the mic plugs in on the side instead of the front, so the CB would stick out too far. I am considering using the mounting bracket it came with and screwing it in through the plastic grill where the dash speakers used to be. It would be mostly out of my way, but still convenient to use. Yotaman94, what model of Cobra do you have?
