Hi all
Sorry if this type of thread has been done a squillion times but I had a look through the first few pages of archives and couldnt find the same type of thread.
First up I am not much of a mechanic and have a friend who is so usually let him do all the work while I get the parts. So for that reason I ask advice on what motor to replace my old one with that will be relatively easy and not cost the world.
I have an 85 SWB Landcruiser Bundera and the 22r petrol motor. It is getting a bit old in the tooth and not quite pumping out the power I would like. I am probably looking to go to a 6cyl motor as 8cyl might be getting a bit chewy of the fuel. Unless anyone can suggest a pretty beefy 4cyl.
I am in Australia and heard that the old straight 6cyl holden motors can be slotted in pretty easy and do a decent job. I have also heard the 2F type cruiser motors are ok but pretty heavy. Fuel injected VN/VP commodore motors were also suggested but I am thinking that may be a bit too hard and expensive. There was also talk about puting a computer in the back of the glove box and not being great mechanic if a problem occurs I might be up chit creek.
If I replace the motor what other things will also require replacement?
Thanks in advance ;D

I'd say look into a 231 Buick engine. It's a good V6 with a fair amount of power. But if you would like more POWER ;D a 2.4 or 2.8 Chevy fuel injected V6 engine should fit in nicely. For all three of them you'll need to change the transmission and do so mods on the motor mounts. On the Chevy's if you go with the fuel injection you'll want to make sure to get all the wiring and etc. for the injection system.[glow=red,2,300] GOOD LUCK[/glow]
