lookin at SAS kits but my piggy bank doesnt like that very much and since its my first 4 by i most probably will go with a 2" body. but my question is for an extra 1.5"s of lift for like 109 bucks at ,i think 4crawler, what about ball joint spacers? with the 2" body and bjs, wouldnt that give me 3.5"? i got 2" blocks in the back now so i would get the machine shop in town to cut them down to level the truck. does anyone have this setup? pros, cons any input would be greatly appreciated. thanks tyler

I've been thinking about that also.... I was looking at the spacers from Roger Brown, does anyone have pros / cons about those?? Is the installaton easy?? I have a 3inch BL with 33's, and am looking for just a little more lift...

why not save 100$$ and just crank your torsion bars? its free and you can do it in an afternoon, heres a write up about it www.off-road.com/toyota/tech/torsion/and personally i would use a 2" shackle lift instead of the blocks, blocks scare me.....

Cranking my torsion bars too much scares me. Everybody's truck rides differently, but I don't want to loose any of the ease in the ride. It's my DD and I have to drive around the city alot. And why do blocks scare you? They only lift the body. If you do it right, it's not bad at all. I'm actually pretty pleased with the way my BL came out.

When he said blocks I dont think he meant blocks to lift the body he meant blocks to space the rear axle away from the springs. You put a block in between the axle and sring mounts and get longer U-bolts and that is what gives you lift.

Oh. I was wondering why he started talking about body lifts. Is the ride alot worse with the blocks in the back? Do they negatively affect your handeling???

no, that is the whole point, they dont change the ride at all, they are just like a body lift, but it fits in between you rear axle and the spring pack. The upside is that they are very cheap and you can get them anywhere, and the downside is that they provide more leverage for your axle to twist your springs into an S shape. This happens when it is easier to twist the springs than turn the tires, and this usually happens when your rear axle is stuck in a rut, and the truck will jump violently up and down and scare the shit out of you. but if you stick to a relatively small block you dont have to be too worried. I have a two in. block just to make the truck sit level. If you consider this mod combined with a front lift youll be looking FINE on the cheap. BTW, dont use more than a two inch block because your emergency brake line gets moved down with the axle, and if it gets moved down too much you will be riding on your emergency brakes all the time unless you extend your lines ;D

Im considering buying the ball joint spacers to. I already have a 4in. suspension lift but I want my rig a little taller. I plan on doing the ball joints and throwing in some 25mm torsion bars. By doing this I plan on getting maybe 2 to to 2.5in. of lift. For the rear Im throwing in a 2in. add a leaf to go on over the 4in. block i have back there. When its all said and done Im gonna have 6in. of suspension along with my 3in. body lift that is on. Anyone have any pics of the ball joint spacers installed? If so was the amount of lift noticeable?

Well im currently running a brand new set of 35x12.50 mickey thompson claws. They do not fit snug in the fenders but I want to stand a little taller oover them.

Heres a before and after of my runner. First pic is stock suspension with 32" Yokos, 2nd is cruiser coils in the rear and 1.5" bj spacers (www.sdori.com) up front and same tires.

how much lift do you need to fit true 35" tires on a 1st gen. 4Runner?

wow the spacers look pretty good. Im prob gonna go with them on my pickup. My current set up includes................ 4in. procomp suspension,3in. bodylift and 35x12.50.................. with the ball joint spacers and 25mm torsion bars up front i plan on gaining about 2 to 2.5 in. of lift. For the rear I plan on adding a 2in. ad-leaf. Do you guys think that my driveline angles will change much? I hope not!
