i am looking to trade my 93 2wd pickup for a 87 4wd 4runner. everything is good on the 4runner but a couple of mechanics have told me that the transfer case on these trucks usually go out at about 250k. i was raised eith the idea that toyotas run for thousands of miles (given the right maitinance). i figured i would take this up to the forums before i fully decide to trade.

Heck no, the t-case will out last the entire truck, if treated right. The tranny will go up first.

Well the gear driven ones behind the 4cyl will last forever basically but the chain driven case behind the V6 probably isn't as immortal

My chain drive case has 260 000 on it and is still going strong. And thats not treating it nicely.
