I was wondering if there were any "keys" setup for toyota torsion bars such as on Chevys. I tried doing a search and tried doing a little research about them with no luck. My buddies both cranked their torsion bars a little and added the keys and gave their chevys a couple inches of lift...
I dont fully understand how the keys work, but if someone could help me I would gladly appreciate it. Also, with stock suspension, are the only options I have to get lift are the ball joint spacers and cranking the bars or is there any other way? Thanks a lot.

Never heard of the "keys" to add additional lift to a yota. But I have my tortions jacked too..So Imma keep my eyes on this post, cause I'd love a lil more lift as well..So If there are some keys to add lift I'm all in..=O)

Personally i have never heard of any "keys" for toyota torsion bars. I know when the bars fatigue over time you can index them slightly to pull some more out of it. But you can only crank these things down until the upper control arm bottoms out.

so how else can you lift the front end?

Diff drop spacers, control arms, ball joint spacers, t-bar crank, etc...

I've gotten 2.5 inches out of'em, but made the ride kinda ruff..But the Q is, is the ride worth the tires that you can stuff under it..To me....Yes..

But if you are going to do something, just do it right. Ya, crank the bars a little bit but you gotta remember when you crank them things down for every inch you get you lose that in travel, so...is it worth it still. You are better off going out and spending a 100 bucks on a ball joint spacer where you wont lose any travel but actually gain some and then spend 50 bucks or whatever roger sells the diff spacers for and call it a day.

Thats a big 10-4, but if u only need 2 inches to clear 36's or 38's and are on a budget like some of us, then crakin them babies is well worth it.But as far as flex and wheelin, I'd rather keep as little tention on the springs/tortions as possible.

If you are on a budget, tell me this, if you need 2 inches and can afford 36's or 38's, 100 bucks aint shit. And why would you want to stuff (literally) such a big tire, just to burn up on the pavement with a cheap rough lousy way of lifting something. Just to be cool i reckon...

Thats y I have the 94 yota..And all the tires that Ive bought are from friends..Its about 5 of us that wheel and deal with lifts, rims, tires, body lifts etc..Im AM on a budget..Just like those 12 inch rims with 33's I got..They are from a friend thats cuttin me a deal...Im not a baller..Im normal guys..

As far as yotas..Ive been messin with the suspension for a while now..Its a yota fad in town right now..Im about to do my first IFS lift with tortions...Im used to the coilovers like the tacoma etc. So tell me this...After going with my procomp stage II 4inch can I use ball joint spacers too to add lift?? I know that after doing the 9 inch on my tacoma I used coilspring spacers to get another 3 inches out of the control arms..Does this work as well on the 89-94??

Oh yea..You lose travel with ball joint spacers as well my friend..All ur doing is pushin down the lower control arm just like the coilspring spacer does on the tacomas..Its the same as crankin down the tortions with out actually cranking them..Ive reserched and found out that you lose the same travel anytime the lower control arm is moved down NO MATTER how you move it..Whether it's by spacers or tortions..Either way its all done to stuff bigger tires under it..Thats that only way that you dont lose travel is by going with larger tires..Even with the true suspension lift ..Your travel is the same, cause the drop down bracketts are in the same place as the stock were before the lift..It's just an extention of the stock drop down bracketts..Thats all a suspension consist of..

Na jamride you got it mixed up. You gain an inch of compression travel .5" inches than it had stock. What loses travel is crankin the torsion bars along with the ball joint spacer. The ball joint spacers increase travel and the flex of the suspension as the upper a-arm is more parallel to the ground.

I realize that the upper A arm is more parallel to the ground but the lower A arm is iin the same place right? therefore the center of the spindle is in the same place..Like if you measured from the center of the bearing housing to the ground..It would be the same..Unless the tire size changes. Im thinking that the spacers act ecxactly as the coilover spacers do on the tacoma models..Did you get that link by the way??

Ya I got the link thank you... Well, the facts I stated I believe must been about the shock and what happens with them. The lower a-arm would in fact stay in the same position meaning you didnt lose or gain travel then correct?

ball joint spacers, tightening t bars, coil spacers... all do the same thing , which is lift the vehicle by limiting the suspensions travel. its not really that hard to understand. your pushing the lower control arm down and stiffening it where it doesnt go up as far as it did factory, therefor raising the vehicle off the ground.
