i picked up a 86 toy for 100 bucks with a blown 22r... i have a 22r from a 1983 2wd pickup... will the 2wd 22r swap right in to my 86 or will i have to change stuff? like the oil pans?

yeah you do need to change the oil pan, it will not fit on the 4wd. There is a difference in the heads on the engines depending on efi or carb.

just curious but why wont it fit on the 4wd? would it fit if he had a suspension lift?

both are carbed 22rs... so just change the pans? or the oil pick ups as well?

just curious but why wont it fit on the 4wd? would it fit if he had a suspension lift? They used a shorter oil pan on the 4x4's to accomondate the front dif.

OK, you have both engines, why not LOOK at them to see the differences instead of asking people who can't see them?
In addition to the oil pan look at the exhaust manifolds and flywheel.
