Its not a lot of fun. Did the one on my 4runner years back. Is yours leaking or just not blowing heat?

its not leaking and it varies on heat some days itll be real hot and other days it wont be hot at all. and when you step on the gas and rev it up you can hear coolant trickle thru like its being blocked. i did back flush it and it helped for a while. i think i might try a total cooling system flush

Do you lose coolant at all? What motor is in this. Two problems i have experienced with my heating system are corroded cables that actuate the air box. When I would move the switch nothing would be happening. The second is rotted heater tubes that run under the intake manifold. I never lost huge coolant, just a little but the rot was enough to not allow the system to buid pressure. The chances of your heatercore being blocked are very slim. If you are hearing coolant "trickle" through there is a good chance that your system isnt building proper pressure or is low on coolant. There is also a valve controlling coolant flow to your heater core. Not typically the problem you can do a short term bypass to test it out.

nope i am losing no coolant. it the 3vze. the cables are fine going to the airbox as well as the valve mounted on the side wall i am familier with this and have tried bypassing it and still same thing. as far as the no pressure thing i thoght it could be that to. should i put some of the coolant system flush stuff in and do a complete flush? thanks

Next thing i would do is pressure test the cooling system.

just wondering why i would pressure test it? if its not leaking while running what would a pressure tester do? i look at my coolant almost everday and i see no signs of losing coolant. thanks for the help

Just because its not going low doesnt mean you arent losing coolant. The v6s love to vapour lock. Ive had mine lose coolant without noticing a visible loss. Then it overheats and the rad is suddenly half empty. If you tried bypassing the valve to the heater core im assuming that the inlet to the core isnt getting hot. If it is getting full hot why bypass it? If thats the case i would be looking to see if the system is holding pressure cause there has to be a reason its not flowing to the core. If it is fully hot and cold on the output side then try flushing the core out with a hose.
You could also try bypassing the heater core altogether and see how the by pass heats up to see if you are actually getting flow.
