Please help me

I have an 1987 toyota pickup. I was driving home from work the other day and when I came to a stop it would not come out of fourth gear. It remains stuck in fourth gear. To get home I had to put it into 4x4 low so the gears are lower. Has this ever happend to anyone befor? Thank you for your time.

I've heard of this but many years ago, but if I do remember correctly. It's more than likely that the syncro failed. Which would require you to either rebuild or replace the tranny.
