hey everyone I have an 87 Toyota pickup. I just had a problem with my transmit ion it will not come out of fourth gear. Now I was wondering how hard and expensive it would be to change to automatic. does anyone know the best way to do it.

It would be much easier, and most likely cheaper to replace your trans with a used one. I have seen used 5 speeds go from $20 to $200 in working condition. I doubt you could get an auto and the parts needed for that. I read somewhere recently, i think on this site but i cannot find the thread, about a manual transmission getting stuck in a gear means it needs a rebuild.

No kidding. Just swap out the tranny. I did one last summer for a friend who picked up the tranny for 100 bucks.
