The oil light on my truck came on a few weeks ago. I checked it and it was a little low, so I put some in. Even though the oil level is where it should be the light still comes on. Here is exactly what happened/happens. There was snow and ice on the truck so I started it and let it idle for a while with the defroster on. When I got back in the now warm truck the oil light was on, I checked and filled it. The light stayed on, and now every time I start the truck the light still comes on, not right away but as it starts to warm up. Anyone have any ideas why, or where to start to fix the problem???
Also The Fuel gauge usually doesn't work but once in a while it does.......I'm thinking its the float in the tank but not sure. Any ideas??
Its an 1987 22R
Thanks for any help.

For the fuel gauge, does it work when the tank is full or near full and then stop working as the tank gets emptier?

Yeah......kinda Sometimes (not every time though) when I fill it up it'll show full and after using it a few times i'll go out and start it up and it will show empty. But sometimes when I fill it it'll only show 1/2 or 3/4's full and then again, after using it a few times it 'reads' empty.
I've been writing the mileage down and then just filling it after I go 200 miles, I don't use the truck much but would like to fix it.
Thanks

My truck had a similar problem. It would show full then after a few miles it would go to empty until I filled it up again. The problem was the sending unit in the tank. The float has a contact that moves up and down the side of a small wire coil. The wires on the coil had broke because the constant movement of the float. I got a sending unit from a junk yard and swapped the coils. Its worked great since.

You could have 2 bad sending units or a problem with the 12Vs on the gauge cluster.
I'd guess 2 bad senders. The fuel sender may work if you clean it with electrical contact cleaner.
