ECT?

i just bought a 89 yota puck up with an auto trans, and on the center console it has a button that says ECT power or normal and i dont really know what it is, ive never seen that before, so i was just wondering if any one knows what it is?

ECT = Electronically Controlled Transmission
The button changes the trans shift points.
In Power mode it lets engine wind out longer before shifting.
It's very common on ECTs.

I think it also diesengages the torque convertor lockup feature as well. On my diesel I know it revs higher as is goes to about 4400 with the power on and only 4200 with it off. On my diesel it disengage the lockup feature. But my tranny is the A343F.

Dont push it...Its the Ejection Control Toggle button!
I just recently got a new beater car a 87 BMW thats got about 6 buttons im affraid to push that are not labeled. Theres so many bells and whistels on this car its ridiculous. My friend Ashley and I were hittin some back roads the other night havin a few cold ones and she was like hey Chris, what is this button for I said I dont know but dont push it or the other unlabled ones you see we might end up on the other side of the mtn.

also incase you didnt know, but sure you did...it works better with the o/d off lol
and since you have the pickup, lockout hubs you have the A340F auto, which has the removable transfercase
