Well the weather was nice on Sunday so this is what I was working on. They are 1.5" od .25" thick square tube. They aren't finished. I'm going to run another vertical bar from top to bottom closer to the hinge. I still need to figure out a latch, and I'm making a padded arm rest to go from the vertical rear post to the upper bar. I may fill in the opening with expanded mesh, and maybe fill the door sill with diamond plate to keep crap in. I still need to cap off the top of the vertical post as well as the bottom bar, then grind and paint. Well, what do you think so far?

Well I got the handles functional, that and a bit of paint. Haven't really done much else with them as I've been a bit lazy. So here is with paint. Here are two pictures of the handle. (pay no attention to the blank white area - it's covering a poor bracket design that hasn't been removed yet) If I find that the latches open while bouncing around I'll use a carb spring from the handle to the expanded mesh to keep it closed I still need to weld on top of the handle and contour them a bit, and paint. Then I need to finish the doors. 1. Front bar by hinge 2. Expanded mesh between upper and lower bar 3. Lower door sill - probably going to use some diamond plate I have kicking about 4. Padded armrest If I can locate a pair of stock rear tire carriers like I have on the back of my 4Runner I'll switch to them. But for now these latches work and are good and tight/no rattle. I also still need to contour the handle and paint them... I've also added motorcycle mirrors to make them legal.
