My 2000 Tacoma was just totaled and I am having a hard time finding another 4x4. Does anyone know how the Pre-Runner handles offroad?

Keep lookin for a 4x4 ;D street runners do not belong off road I know people do it but it is good for hauling atv's and small campers

You guessed correctly unfortunately you don't win a prize ;D yeah they waste lockers on them they should put them in the reg cab 4cyl instead

i think they need to put lockers in all 4wds , at least the rear .if i wanted a 2wd i would have bought one

I agree completely a rear locker should be standard equipment on 4x4's mine didn't come with one and some smuck with a 2wd pre runner gets one who probably doesn't even know what it is or what it's for

i should have got a trd , but it was the last 03 4x4 they had and they took a pretty good chunk of the price and it had the main things i wanted , 3.4, 5 speed ,4x4,ext cab, so i can't complain. its been a good truck so far.

what were they thinking when they put the locker in the prerunner and not the 4X4?

TRD is a $3400 option upgrade if there wasn't to much work involved they would have the dealer do the install but they chose to just go ahead and set'em up

I'm not positive but I belive the term prerunner came from 2wd off road raceing trucks. the Pre-runner is just at home in sand courses as it is on pavement, when it comes to mud and rocks and all the other b.s. its a whole other ball game. I would definately go for a 4x4 I played the waiting game for 18 months to find the truck i wanted and im more then glad i did. Wait for what you want you'll regret not doing so in the future, but if you do go pre runner its not a bad cancelation prize.

A prerunner can do great off-road given a good driver, but with that said, you can't beat a 4WD.
