So, I was out at the Toy dealer the other day test driving a 4Runner and was talking to the sales guy about Tacomas. He mentioned that the 2005 taco will be built on the much larger 04/05 4Runner frame and will feature the 4.0L V6 found in the Highlander (and I think the new 4Runner as well).
I asked if there were plans for a v8 option for the Taco, and he said that "it was still up in the air".
Could we finally be getting an 8 in the Taco? I'm anxious to see what the new Tacoma will look like. Hopefully it does not go the way of the 4Runner and become plastic.
Hoodlum - have you heard anything?

yeah I was told that the 4.0 v6 is going in runners and double cabs and there's going to be a v8 option and supercharger option the question that has not been answered is what's happening to the XTR and REG cabs BELIEVE me I'm on top of this one because I have 1 year left to pay on my 99 and want to get a new DD and it's got to be another taco so the 99 can remain as a trail rig only ;D hey mike love the new and improved imoticons

I just talked to the sales manager and the new tacomas are larger about the size of the T-100 (the older ones) it will have the 4.0v6 with a v8 option he said that it was great looking and he might trade in his Tundra for one but the rumor of super chargers is just that it still may happen but not until they straighten out the problems their having with them

Hey I'm new here but thought I'd mention I remember seeing an article in one of the truck mags or truck buyers guides that talked about the 05 tacoma and showed one picture a what is supposed to be the 05. it was dressed up in deceptive paint so it was hard to see the body lines it looked like a smaller version of the tundra IMHO. Wish I could remember the magizine or how credible it was but all i remember is the article.

The July issue of Four Wheeler has a spy photo of the 05 Double Cab. From what I can tell, it looks a lot similar to the new 4Runner with a bed.
Is there anyway to attach docs/pics to a message?

I used to work with a woman whoms husband is a Test Driver for Toyota. I gave her a call and found out that they didn't do bad in the off road test however there are a few kinks to work out. He couldn't get specific but he said at least it wasn't as bad as the new Land Cruiser Concept that is coming out.

Was one of the kinks that it didn't have any ground clearance? : ) The '05 was on display at the National Takeover event in Tahoe and people were able to take pictures, but the had to sign a paper saying the wouldn't distribute the pics.

;D Just a sidebar...In one of the latest 4wheel&offroad mags, they published the results of a JDpowers survey. The ONLY truck that was voted capable of wheelin' was the.......TACOMA!! Later...

I guess that everyone's deffinition of "Wheelin" is differnt. In my experience with Toyota I would have to agree with you 4xfred. However I just gave the information that I was provided with. If I am wrong...I apoligize, and also for apparently offending you by posting the info I was given...
