Hi im new to off roading and i'm about to buy my first truck, a tacoma, i was wondering which one would be the best choice for adding a 3'' lift and a set of 31-33'' tires. All the ones im looking at are used here are a few specs on my choices:
1. '99 4X4, 5-speed Manual, 2.7L L4 EFI DOHC motor, Regular cab 2. '00 4X4, Automatic, 2.7L L4 EFI DOHC motor, Regular cab 3. '00 SR5 4X2, Automatic, V4 motor, Ext. cab I live in Charlotte NC so i would be doing about 75% of the driving on roads and the other 25% off road. I was wondering if the 2.7 liter motor would have enough power to do the amount of off roading i mentioned with the lift and new tires, or should i not even consider trying to add them. Just wanted to find out some veteran's opinions before i dive into this stuff. Thanks

If it were me I would definately go with the manual especially with the 2.7. For bigger tires, obviously a V6 would be better, but you should be able to make up the difference with gears. Later.

I'd opt for the 2.7L manual tranny.

I would definately go with the manual tranny with the 2.7, you would definately notice a difference in power going from the automatic to the manual. If you were going for a V6 it wouldnt matter as much.
