Hey guys, I have a 2001 Tacoma double cab 4wd TRD and was undecided on what kit I like better. The Revtek 3" kit from wheelers comes with Bilstien 5100's for 480.00 the Cornfed kit 3" come with Bilstien HD's for 365.00. Can you give me your oppions and let me know what are the main differences between the two kits. Thanks, Dave.

I believe that the cornfed kit is safer his spacers are solid and and just flat out fit toyotas better cornfed origanally designed his product around toyotas he has just recently started making kits for other trucks plus you can't beat his customer service if for some off the wall chance you do have a problem you deal directly with the owners Dave and Larry they are really great guys and serious off roaders believe me you can't go wrong with cornfed

Alright so i threw out the idea of buying a 1500 dollar procomp lift, and instead am going with the 3" confed lift w/ the diff drop. My question is what exactly is a shackle? I know it's probably something that I know but don't know that's what it's referring to . I'm having problems deciding if i want to go with shackles or if i want to go with an add-a-leaf (AAL). They're about the same price. Also what's the difference between a 1" shackle and 2" shackle. Is that just height of the rear end lift?

The shackle is what goes from the rear half of the spring to the frame (feel silly now?). And yes, the difference between shackle size is just the lift height.

That's what I had figured it was but I'd rather ask first . So my next question is should I go with an AAL or should i got with the shackle. The AAL will raise the truck 2.5" while the shackle 2". The front will be the 3" spacer. I have an ARB so i'm expecting some sag in the springs, but i'm not sure how much, i'd like the truck to be level, but I don't think you could tell if each end was .5" off. I'm just wondering if the add-a-leaf, or shackle is the better way to go. Thanks

With the ARB AND a spacer on top of your front coils, expect them to last MAYBE a year.

hmm....now the question seems to be where can I get springs that will hold up?? How bad will the sag be...i mean when you say they'll last a year....what are you meaning? I don't want to be replacing springs every year....

www.northwestoffroad.com/parts/coilsuspension.htmlWould this be alternative....or is it just a scam?? I think they're only like 170 for the set....should I call cornfed and see if they know anything about these springs? **Note added: the coil springs are actually 180.00 plus 38 dollar to ship to my house.**

in my observations the aal is going to make the rear springs stiffer. Good or bad depending on what you are looking for and your set up. But a shackle will give you more lift and droop

Does OME (old man emu)offer a spring that doesn't lift the truck but is heavier duty. I've only been able to find springs that lift the truck which doesn't bother me, but that means i'd have to lift the rear of the truck some more so it doesn't look like i have rear end sag.
I also thought that OME springs had a problem with them not sagging at the same rate and a lot of the times one side would sag more than the other.
This lift just seems to be getting more and more expensive......

I was looking into the same thing for my womans truck, since were bolth poor. I found a guy from a aquantince that is located in portland or, he gave me a price for two coils that are 1-1.75 of lift for 68 dollars each the strut or front shock was 99.99 ea for the soft ride and 71 ea for rear shocks. it was a pretty all around basic price that i have come to find, and it is all oldman emu stock baisicly. hope this helps

With an add-a-leaf, you will increace the rear load capacity at the price of a slightly stiffer ride. also may hurt some flex. As far as shackles go, the longer they are than stock will be twice the amount of lift you will get. Meaning a 1" longer shackle will give you .5" of lift. I put on a 3" TEXTlonger TEXTshackle and received 1.5 inches of lift. Longer shackles will give you a slightly better ride and also some additional flex. Alot of the time when you do shackles though, you'll need to purchase new rubber or poly bushings do to the heat required for the swap will melt the old ones. This is what most of us deal with at leat on the pickups. I have both add-a-leaf and longer shackles in my '93. As far as coil spring spacers....... . I'll find that stuff out after I get my '05 if they ever budge on their strict MSRP!
