New to the toyota scene. I have a 99 tacoma ext. cab. How much lift do I need to clear 37x12.50 tires. It took my 97 nissan hardbody 10 inches with plenty of room. Will 9 inches cover it? (6 inch susp. 3in bl) Thanks for all your help Shane

Hey man,
Im going to move this topic to the right place so it gets the correct attention. However, I have a friend running a 6" suspension lift and 3" bl and he runs 35's. If your going to run 37's your probably going to need to do some trimming or custom suspension setup. And I hope you like changing CV's off road.... The guy with 35's carries 2-4 with him when he goes wheelin.

Most likely you would have to run a 6" Dropdown bracket lift... Fabtech would be best IMO. Then get maybe 1" BL (Roger Brown) and 2" Coilover (Kings, FabTech, Hoes...).... You will need at least 9" for what I am told... I'm still running stock... I plan on running 38's with a 12" lift... but I'm most likely going to do a SAS sometime here in the near future.
Body lifts on Taco's IMO look horrible... tacos are nice trucks, they need nice lifts... plus they already have roll over issues... I'd say get Coilovers and a small BL... you can crank the Coilovers up to 3" or 3.5" depending what you want to run, but your CVs will go to shit. That's why I suggest a 1.5" Coilover lift and 1.5" BL or 2" (would not go any more) and 1" BL.
Or you can maybe even save yourself some $$$, do it the right way, and go Solid... it will look better and you'll rule everyone offroad...
Kick Ass
Oh yeah, your onroad and offroad ride will be better if you get coilovers compaired to a huge body lift... They just cost a ton, but like I said... Nice trucks deserve nice lifts... if you want to go cheap get an old beater... or do whatever you want... I'm not your dad!

I am running a total of 11 inches of lift... 6" Fabtech, OME 881's, and a 3" body lift. I have 35's and can still make them touch the fenders off-road. With 37's you will be changing CV's more often than your underwear.

If you do wheelin enough where you would blow your cv's I would just SAS. But if its a light duty trail rig you should be fine with a 6in susp. and 3in body, you may do some fender trimming if you like to flex alot other wise 9 should be good. As for blowing cvs with 35's I guess thats more likely with higher hp engines(3.4 v6). My buddy has 92 22RE and 35's and he does some pretty serious stuff and has nvr busted a cv.

Yes, blowing CV's would be affected by HP, gearing, lockers, etc.
