Hey all, i'm new here. seems like everyone knows their shit around here.... i'm just wondering,, i think i want to put a fabtech 6" on my '99 ext cab, v6, trd taco. but i'm wondering, is the difference in drivability change a ton between a 3.5" fabtech and the 6"? and what size and type of tire should i run on either a 3.5" or 6" lift? do i need knew wheels or will the stock alloys work? i want to save as much money as possible without cutting important corners... thanks in advance for your help and any other thoughts or suggestions would be much appreciated.

i have a 95 tacoma just like yours i have a 3 inch revtech and a 3 inch body lift. i run 33's. i dont know if the fabtech 6 inch will clear 33's or not. you can use your same wheels if you like there is nothing wrong with that if your toy has 16's the tires will cost you more than if your toy has 15 inch wheels
im very happy with the lift on my rig i dont know how much the fabtech 6 inch will cost you but i think a 3 inch suspension lift and a 3 inch body lift will be more affordable.

You would prolly be better off with the 6 inch. That lift will clear 35 12.5 with some trimming, enough for most people. If you are really wheelin it will rub though. I think the 3 in is just a coil over which will put a lot of stress on your cv's.

I heard somewhere, i'm not sure if it's true or not, but with the fabtech 3.5" they recommend that you don't adjust it over 2.5" or it will stretch out the coils. You'll have to do a diff drop for either one. The 3.5" doesn't come with a diff drop but you can make one yourself or order one from someone like cornfed suspensions. I would say save up for the 6 inch

he he... not the most experienced mechanic... what purpose does a differential drop have? and ... i may be wrong.. but a cv is the joint on the drive-line from the shaft into the differential right?

what do you guys think of the Cornfed 3" taco lift that comes with the diff drop? quality lift for the money... i've been thinking lately that i just want to go with a small lift and tires for this truck because in a year or two i want to upgrade to a double-cab and blast some cash on that bish.... i just don't know that i want to spend 1800 bucks on a lift plus $$$ for tires and wheels on a truck i don't plan on driving for more than 2 years

Hey all, Old member who has a new name now. As for this guys concerns, no disprespect to the guys but the 6" Fabtech will most DEFINITELY clear 35x12.50s without ANY cutting or bending fellas. I cleared 35s with a 3" bod lift on my old toy. I'd say 35x12.50 radials would be the best choice for a daily driver/weekend warrior. It really depends on what you want to do with your truck. The Fabtech is a good choice as it will allow for technical support from their website. As for the dif drop, I'm not sure thats necessary for a simple 6" suspension lift. Anything necessary will come with the kit, keyword "kit". Follow all instructions carefully or make sure your mechanic/installer is knowledgeable and experienced. Good luck and be sure to send in some pics when it's done.

I got a 96 Tacoma 4wd, 5spd, V6, and i just finished it up. I installed the fabtech 6" lift, and a 3" body lift, the lift went on surprisingly easier than i thought, it did require a little, fabrication but overall it wasn't a pain in the neck at all. it also clears the 37x12.50 superswamper TSL SSR very nice
