On a 96' tacoma would you leave it stock height with 31's or lift it 6" with 35's?

Daily driver/weekend warrior, this is my first Toyota truck and I am pretty excited about it!!! Also interested in what works best, any combinations of lift, suspension or body or together?

I personally have the stock and 31's. It's always performed for me on the trail, but i'd like to give it a little more rugged look. Mine too is a daily driver, to and from classes and to work, and then on the weekend i'll play in the mud, drive on some trails. I'm going with the 3" spacer lift and 33's. I think 33's are good for toyota trucks, since the drive-train of tacoma's aren't really built for 35's. Tacoma's can handle 35's but stuff will start breaking a lot sooner then if you put on some 33's. That and with 33's you can still get away with stock gears. You won't have the best performance in the world, but at least you'll be able to do highway speeds. For me the happy medium is the best route. And if you don't like spacers, both donahoe and fabtech make coilover lifts that will lift your truck the 3 inches. Depends on your check book. The better performing would be the coilover packages, the better money wise is the spacers........

dont forget if u are goin with 6 inches of lift u WIll be wearing out the CV boots and that will lead to the CVs breaking. if u dont alreayd have it i would go with the manaual hub conversion kit. and then lift it or a combination of a body lift and suspension

I do have the manual hubs, without any lift and stock 31's. I don't want to wear out any other parts on my truck, I just want it to perform well off-road. I just want to set it up (tires/lift) once, and do it right the first time. Price doesn't matter as long as it will work well.

well u are set to go if u want to get a 6inch lift. as far as wearing stuff out, or breaking thats part of the game.

Even if you did have automatic hubs, the complete kits come with diff drops to correct the CV angles and put your angles back in the stock range.
There are also 4" and 5" suspension packages if you don't want to go the full 6 inches.
You have options on if you want to lift it 1 inch to 6 inches, i would start weighing my options and see what you come up with. I've heard great reviews on how good the ride is with the donahoe setup. The donahoe package actually replaces the rear leaf springs rather then just sticking in a block or an add-a-leaf. I've also read good reviews on the pro-comp 4" and the tuff country 5", i haven't heard much on the fabtech 6"

a 6 inch lift really does need the hubs so the CVs donot wear out. well the boots.

For you it sounds like a revtech 3 in. spacers are best with 32-33 bf mud
