Hello, I am new here. So far what I have read with my problems, seems like everyone here knows der stuff.
I have a few questions.
1. I had put my 99 in storage for a year in Alaska, while overseas, it was indoor storage, drained the fuel, treated the engine, etc. However when I took it out of storage, I now have little or not heat at all. It is warm enough to keep the windows defrosted here in Oregon, but not comfortable enough to stay warm with out gloves and a coat. I have pulled the dash apart, and the heater core will burn my fingers.... ? Any ideas? I see all the flaps in vent system closing or opening right.
2. Transmission problems.. 3rd, 4th, and 5th, Syncro's went out on me when I bought the truck at 20K back in 1999. Toyota replaced those, and since doing my own tranny work, I know that they used and aftermarket throw out bearing. My counter shaft pitted, and I am thinking due to storage??? Now 15K later, 3 gear is whinning like a #$)#$#! I often run second hard, and skip 3rd, due to not being in a finicial situation to be able to afford another $1,500 partial overhaul. Any questions? I know that mine is a lemon, i have more problems with it, and I drive normal.
3. Rear brakes never auto adjust on me, and they are still the factory pads, only half worn. I forget to adjust them every now and then, and I have went through 3 sets of front pads. I have 126 K on it now, and I commute 100 miles a day. It is over the road miles and not in town. I am constanly being passed and usually only brake below 4th after downshifting.
4. I get about 18 miles a gallon. I have everything stock. I am using a K & N air filter, champion truck plugs ( have used NGK's, Bosch, and others) but these seem to give me less noice on my cb. I keep my tire pressure at or near 30 psi. Any thing wrong with my milage dropping? I use to be able to get 24 to 26 mpg.
Any help, ideas, would be appriciated. I am almost done with school, and I will be glad to get rid of my TOY! I will be much happier with a diesel.
Thanks
I am getting tired of troubleshooting.
