Wondering if anyone has comments on the gearing, particularly how low the 6th speed is?
I realize that I bought a pickup truck, yet most of the US drive on high speed roads (over 65MPH). Why is 6th gear not an overdrive. I get 18-20MPG in and around city and 17 or less on highway driving over 70MPH. This leads me to believe that the 4.0L could up make the 6th and overdrive and GREATLY INCREASE highway milage.

All I know is that 1rst gear on the 05 is very low. Almost like a granny low. Which leads me to believe that this thing is a 5-speed with a granny low for first. I can start in 2nd gear if I want to no problem. I think the 6-speed was is geared towards off-road capability and towing rather than fuel efficiency. Just my opinion.

the 6 speed manual is a street truck set up to compete with the ford svt and the chevy it is for street racing not cruising
