I was just on the marlin crawler website looking at some of the photos from some of thier events. The photos were loaded with taco's with sas done. Snorkleman on this site has a taco with sas. Pm him or something. I think he put a dana 44 under his truck

Snorkleman's rig is not a Taco his is a gen. earlier look where the snorkle is it's on the drivers side. on Tacos it mounts on the passenger side. As for SAS'ed Tacos there are plenty of them here. It's that this is the slow time for the board most folks are out doing runs, projects and other family stuff or what not. So threads don't always get answered right away.

what do u want to know. there are a few ways u can SAS one of these. one is to get the adapter from marlin to run the gear driven t case and have the diff on the passenger side this means u can use a toyota axle or u can keep it on the driver side and use a dana44 from a ford or 1980 and newer jeep. now u can use coil springs ro coilovers or leaf springs also the steering needs to be re done cuz u have rack and pinion and u need a steering box from the 2nd and 3rd gen IFS trucks. it comes down to how much money u wanna spend and how much time and effort u wanna put in

Iam going to use a straight axle from toyota. I did not know needed a adapter. Like I said no one has used a tacoma around here. What do you mean by full hydro steer or assist. Is marlin only place to get adapter

i think so. tacomas have a driver side diff so u need to adapt a t case from a mini truck so u can use a pass side drop axle. as far as full hydro and hydro assist. hull hydro uses a ram to steer hydro assist has a smaller ram and still uses a drag link connected to a pitman arm connetced to a steering box

Just use a FSJ Dana 44 w/a drivers side drop, that way no adapters are needed

Just use a FSJ Dana 44 w/a drivers side drop, that way no adapters are needed may as well get a ford and have it cut down so u can have a high pinion. and if he wanted to do dual cases he needs the adapter to go to gear driven box anyway DRew

I have never built truck before always ran stock but its getting a little to rough. So can you tell me what the FSJ stands for also the high pinion? If I use a ford how would I go about cutting down or would I have to cut it?

how wide do u want it. what rear axle are u goin to use. fsj is full size jeep i think. a low pinion axle for exampleis what i have in the rear of the truck imagine it flipped upside down thats a high pinion. oh yeah u cannot just flip them they are built that way

If I use a ford or j**p front end will I have to change driveshafts or anything else? iam going to use leaf springs and sliders. And can anyone tell me where to find the adapter on the Marlin site? Also if i used a jeep or ford rear end will it bolt up or what do I need to change. Does it matter if it is 1/2 ton or3/4ton?

ya everything is goin to have to change as far as shafts, its kind of a big project to get all this to work. u dont need the adapter unless u are goin to run dual cases. marlincrawler.com/tacomadual.html thats the site for the tacoma stuff u can call them with any questions. the difference between 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton is the lug pattern and the width on the front end. I was just wondering if it really mattered if I used 1/2 ton or 3/4ton gears. I have a friend who is running dual transfer cases, and that is something i have looked at. If I use a ford or jeep gear now will I have to change it to use a dual transfer case?
