hey guys I'm in process in doing a sas on my 92 pickup 2.4 auto and I'll be going 5inch marlin kit w/ 35inch tires on 16x 10 rims running 5.29s
now as is my Lil truck on 31's have problems climbing hills, and slight inclines on the highway if I'm not already doing 60(4th gear?)
I actually figured out what engine to swap in my Toyota when it finally does blow , which leads to the 2.7
now my question is will a 2.7 paired with 5.29s and 35" tires on 16x10s be able to climb hills and go above 60 with no problem or will it act like my 22re and bogg down all the time, making a slow and unjoyable commute?
just wondering because the 2.7 is very similar to specs of the 3slow as every1 calls it...and lastly with simple bolt-ons would the 2.7 be close in performance as the 3.4 is stock?
thanks mike

I run 33's w/4:88's and have no problem going up hill. Except for those real long steep grades then I'll have to drop down to 4th gear. My 2.7 set up will stay pretty much even with the stock 3.4 but when I'm done I'll be able to beat one flat out ;D

There's nothing wrong with the 3.0 (that's 3.slow by the way) A used or rebuilt 3.0 with a "good" head job done is fine and better than the 2.4 and possibly the 2.7 You've got gearing issues on the setup you have now. The 2.7 will cost MEGA $$$
Hood forgot to tell you what he just spent on his 2.7 cluster rebuild.
Yes, with the 3.0 you would have to get the V6 tranfer case, but its stonger anyway. A little....
The 2.7 is not a simple "bolt in" either. Unless you have a donor, forget about it.
Look at it like this... If you have a small d*ck and it gets cut off... why replace it with a small d*ck.
Bigger is better.

The 2.7 is def stronger and much easier to work on than the 3.0 cnytoy is correct about how much I've spent on this motor BUT I was behind the 8-ball and needed to get it running in only a couple of days. So I had to take the first one I could get my hands on. If I had had the time to look around it wouldn't have been as much $ or as much of a cluster#$%%. If you can be patient enough you will find great deals on them.
4xfred has a 3.slow and even with the couple of bolt on upgrades my modified 2.7 out performs it across the board.
And rockcrawlintoy offers some good advise only as far as doing the swap itself BigMike has some killer info for this swap but as far as the actual perfomance upgrades to make I got that covered but do to the agreement I have with the other parties involved I will not post publicly what we've got going on until it is %100 complete and tested so that the info I will be providing will be acurate. But for now here's some upgrades that truly make a dif. 1.get rid of clutch driven fan for a e-fan(my favorite) 2.true %100 cold air intake and I'm not talking about K&N try Volant or get a ARB snorkle they are the only 2 that I know of 3.deck the block by .20 but .10 to .15 is preferred NO MORE & DO NOT BORE OUT CYLINDERS just have them checked too make sure they are true 4.complete exhaust sytem header back 5. upgrade cam
